1. Clear the floor. marble tiles are heavy stones so it is important that the entire floor where youre putting them is completely leveled and cleared before you start the installation. Check the surface for uneven spaces and even them out with jack supports or cement filling. Use a nylon thread or level to assess the slope if theres any as well as dips. It will be hard to install marble tiles on a slope so feel free to level the entire space if necessary to avoid cracking the tiles. If youre installing the tiles on a semi-yielding floor, reinforce accordingly with plywood.
Now that you have everything you need, you are ready to begin. The first thing you need to do is remove everything from the room. If you are going over vinyl or linoleum you do not need to remove it, Pergo is only 9mm thick so you can easily go right over it. If you had carpet you will need to remove it and all the carpet tacks. Then sweep the floor and make sure all debris is removed. Make sure that you remove all base boards and door casing, this will allow you to make less cuts.
Gather your materials including: spacers, blocks, measuring tape, crowbar, jigsaw, miter saw, rubber mallet or tapping block, right angle square and caulking compound.
It would seem on the surface that using bamboo flooring in your home or business makes good environmentally-friendly sense. It is true that this is a natural material that requires far less production and therefore, fewer toxic chemicals. However, as you look at bamboo flooring pros and cons there are some possible drawbacks. First and foremost, is bamboo flooring's potential to chip, crack, and get scuffed. This is the same for its more traditional wood counterparts, however, this is not as well known as an issue for bamboo floors, and often comes as a very unwelcome surprise to those that choose solely for its green properties.
